Shashu:
Healed by God

On February 26, 2009 at 11:30 p.m., I bent down to clean up my work area and felt some dizziness. I felt very tired and it dawned on me that something was wrong. Only a minute earlier I was feeling well but now I was struggling for breath and could hardly walk. I gathered all the strength I could and continued to work.

The next morning, I felt better and decided to go to school. After class, I drove to a nearby hospital. They checked my heart but found nothing wrong. Over the next weeks my health continued to deteriorate. I started to have fevers as high as 103 F, lasting 3-4 days or longer. I only managed to bring it down with Ibuprofen.

I knew I had to get help, but several visits to many doctors brought no relief for the serious symptoms. More tests were done in April and the cause of my illness was not diagnosed. My feet and ankles hurt so badly that I limped as I walked. At one time the doctors thought something was wrong with my kidneys, so they referred me to a specialist who ordered an X-ray, an ultrasound and CT scan of my kidneys but the results were negative. During the ordeal I lost 15 pounds due to my poor appetite and stress.

One day in June I got very ill at school so I went to the nearest hospital. My ankles, knees, and feet were swollen and during the following days I suffered from excruciating pain. The fact that I could not walk made my daughter Bethel cry.

At one doctor’s appointment my left arm was swollen and changing color. I was also having problems breathing. This doctor had seen me several times before. In tears I asked, “Are you waiting until I die?” He then admitted me to the hospital.

At the hospital, 3 or 4 doctors came to me that night. Several procedures were ordered:
EGD, colonoscopy and cystoscopy and small bowel followthrough. Results were all negative. The infectious disease specialist could not diagnose my illness.

After 5 days, they told me that I could go home because they could find nothing wrong, but they referred me to the kidney and rheumatology specialist again. They prescribed prednisone; I didn’t know about the harmful side effects of this medicine.

My face starting swelling, I gained 15 pounds, had breathing problems, and my heart beat faster. I couldn’t stand in one place for a long time, and I could only walk for a short period of time. I asked the doctors to lower the dosage, and I started to have the same symptoms as before.

I was rushed to the ER. After 3 days, the kidney specialist ordered an angiogram exam; again the results were negative. My doctor wanted me to have a kidney biopsy, but I refused. I felt I needed to take my problem to God first. The doctors kept changing my medications and for three months, I stayed at home suffering. There were times when I felt discouraged, but thank God for all the prayers of His people, giving me hope.

One day, my friend Erica called me. I believe the Holy Spirit impressed her to call me. I told her I was sick, but I didn’t tell her everything because it was hard for me to talk. I asked her just to pray for me. She begged me to tell her more about the illness so she would know what to pray for. I had just enough strength to explain everything.

In tears she said, “Shashu, I never knew! I think you need to be anointed. Talk to your pastor about it.” Two days later, she visited me with her husband. They read James 5:14-16, which in part says: “Is anyone of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.”

Erica kept on calling and praying with me and reminding me of the anointing. I called our pastor and he willingly came with two of the elders, Sanford Maddox and Carl Parker. The day they came I had a 102 degree fever. Dr. Parker asked me if I knew anything about M.E.E.T. Ministry and Dr. Thomas Jackson who visited our church 6 years ago. I didn’t remember him.

Then Pastor Barcenas anointed me and earnestly prayed for me. The next morning, Dr. Parker made a conference call to Dr. Jackson who asked me many questions regarding my illness but since everything was complicated, he just prayed and told me to go online and fill out an application. The following week, I received a package—“God’s Plan.” It showed me how to change my lifestyle and how to use the 8 doctors (water, sunshine, exercise, air, rest, temperance, nutrition, and trust in God). I began to read God’s word daily, memorize scripture, believe and abide in Him.

Soon after I had an appointment for a urine test. When the results finally came in, the blood in the urine was gone. I knew this was the work of God and I could feel the Holy Spirit working in my life. I praised God. I felt strongly impressed to change my lifestyle.

At first it was very hard to change my eating habits but gradually my health was improving. Before, when the doctors decreased the dose of my medications, I had a high fever, but now, after following God’s Plan, when the doctors decreased the amount, I felt fine. After experiencing all of this, I decided to completely change my lifestyle. Within 3 months, I saw such a big improvement in my health. When I took the urine tests and got my blood drawn again at the hospital, all the results were good. The doctors thought that the medicine made me better but I knew that God made me better.

My faith in God has grown stronger. I have learned that God is the one and only best physician. The doctors kept on decreasing the medicine dose and in September 2009, I stopped taking the medications. The doctor told me that if the symptoms came back, I would have to take the highest dose gain. I told him that I knew the symptoms wouldn’t come back because God was working in my life. I had faith that God would continue to watch over me. Praise God!

I was not sick anymore! One of my joint specialist doctors saw my lab tests and was shocked that my results were normal. I explained that God had allowed this to happen to me so I would change my lifestyle and put Him first in my life. My God healed me spiritually and physically.

Before all this happened to me, my relationship with God was sort of average. Now I have seen His hand. He has opened my spiritual eyes and healed me from the inside. It is my sincere hope that this story will strengthen and draw others to Christ, my Savior and Great Physician. I would like all my friends, my relatives, my co-workers and others, to know about the power of God and His messenger the M.E.E.T. Ministry. I share recipes and pray with many.

Until Jesus comes again, I will be waiting for him with strong faith.
